Things to do on the Bayside

Sailing
Brisbane boasts one of Australia’s premier sailing areas in Moreton Bay, with semi-sheltered waters and consistent fresh sea breezes providing good safe conditions for sailing, windsurfing and kite boarding. Four sailing clubs are established on Manly Harbour, the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) being the largest and one of Australia’s most prestigious clubs for competitive sailing events. The RQYS hosts numerous racing class fleets from dinghies through to open ocean class racing yachts and catamarans.
Numerous sailing charter companies operate out of Manly Harbour, including corporate match race sailing charters. Check out our links page!

The Moreton Bay Marine Park has a multitude of places to explore for day trips and longer cruises throughout the bay and islands. Moreton, Stradbroke and Peel Islands offer particularly good water quality and anchorages to enjoy the bay and soak up the sun.
Numerous charter boat companies run regular charters from Manly Boat Harbour throughout the bay, including visits to St Helena Island, where visitors may explore the historic ruins of an old colonial settlement.
Fishing
Many quality fishing areas can be found in Moreton Bay, with numerous inshore islands, natural and artificial reefs, sand and seagrass bottoms and creeks providing a diverse range of habitats for common target species of temperate and tropical finfish and crabs.
Experienced charter operators run regular day trips throughout the Bay and outside Moreton and Stradbroke Islands from Manly.
